We have all head the quote "happiness is a journey, not a destination" by Souza. I think of that as I head into the next chapter of Fabulous@50. From the very beginning, my intention was always to inspire, educate and empower women, and after almost 6 years, I think I finally did it.
On November 3/2014, my very first Community Director (licensee) signed the papers to bring Fabulous @50 to her community. Over the past 6 years, I went back and forth on whether I should do this. All of the “what ifs” came to mind. What if they ruin your reputation? What if they run terrible events? What if they completely discredit what I have built? And then a couple of years ago, I had a stern talk with myself, asking myself, why I as truly doing all of this. Was it because I love putting on trade shows, so women can shop and drink martinis? Was it to spend endless hours with people I hardly know, supporting women in growing personally and building new friendships? Yes, those were some of the reasons, but the real reason was so I could support other women like Annie Pool to fulfill their dreams. Annie is my first Community director; she will be bringing the Fabulous@50 concept to Victoria B.C. So very exciting! As this is one of my favorite places, I felt it should be the first location.
Annie has a story, a story of survival and health issues. When I met her at an eWomen Networking meeting, I knew I wanted to know her, I could feel something deep and loving in her.
What if's
So many people, including myself, get caught in the fear and the what if’s of life, and they never fully do what they are meant to do. I continue to be challenged by that, as I move forward into continuing my journey to spread the message of living fully at mid-age. This is not a time to stop, this is a time to shift, to transform, to explore, to take all the talents, skills and gifts you have developed over the years and use them to create something amazing.
Listen. Do you hear it? You already know what it is that you are meant to do, to be, to have...it will come in the quiet moments. The moments, like right now (4:30 am) when you can't sleep or when you are out for a walk. Write it down, explore it, and talk to a like-minded soul. You don't need to have all the answers, it will progress, I promise. Just trust that process, it all takes time.
“happiness is a journey, not a destination. for a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. but there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. at last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. this perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. happiness is the way. so treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one.”
