YOU ARE INVITED TO A FAMOUS 5 ‘PINK TEA’
At Angel's Cafe - 4105 Montgomery View NW Calgary - 6-9pm on April 26, 2023
From Carolyn: I love sharing the story of how The Famous 5 struggled to finally win The Persons Case.
Each of these tenacious Alberta women were instrumental in promoting women’s rights in many important areas of women’s lives. They each have a story of courage.
I am planning an interactive hour of information about The Famous 5. I will share what I have learned about these women and The Persons Case and will be open to any information those attending might also have about these women and this case.
I will be teaching the chorus of my songs and encouraging us to all sing together in unity.
There will be time for a small group discussion about issues of today that still need to be addressed and goal setting.
We will have an opportunity for ‘conversations of consequence’!
Wear a hat and have a chat!!
“Their work is still not finished
The world is still unjust
And when we fear to take a stand
Their spirit says we must”

CAROLYN HARLEY MUSIC
BIO
Carolyn Harley is a Calgary based singer/songwriter who loves to write in a wide range of styles. She considers herself a Late Bloomer because she waited until retirement to really get serious about her music. She has a passion for using her songs for motivation, encouragement, and entertainment. She believes in promoting her ‘Songs that Matter’.
Carolyn’s career choice was as a pre-school teacher which allowed her to be creative in music, art and storytelling. It was as a pre-school teacher at Nellie McClung Elementary School that she first learned that Nellie McClung was a member of The Famous 5 who fought for and won The Persons Case.
Carolyn became connected with the Calgary based Famous 5 Foundation during its inaugural year, over 25 years ago with her songs about The Famous 5. She has been a supporter of this organization and currently her songs are being used as the theme music for an international, F5F live-stream called Virtual Pink Tea Speaker Series.
Carolyn’s album Heartbeat of the World was written and released during the pandemic and was nominated for Folk Recording of the Year for the YYC Music awards.
Carolyn is now performing as a trio and in March of this year received a standing ovation at The Calgary Folk Club.
The tenacity and courage of The Famous 5 to work toward achieving their goal has been an inspiration for Carolyn through the years. She believes that their story is empowering.
