The thought of learning or trying something new has always been in my mind since a very young age. In school I loved drama club, cheerleading and gymnastics. I always wanted to be a leader of some kind, never one to be a follower.
Becoming a mom at a very young age I got my opportunity to be a leader in my home, then from there took courses in sales and marketing, modeling and taught a Christian youth group.
My current accomplishments are getting my Competent Communication award for completing all 10 public speaking assignments in Toastmasters; it doesn't stop there though because there is always something to learn. I now have my sights set on completing my other manual called competent leadership, currently finished 4/10 assignments.
Let me tell you a bit about what toastmasters has done for me: first it has given me opportunities to speak at the club and learn as I go as we get an evaluation done after each speech this helps me to improve. TM has also helped me to have the confidence to be a leader in my community of fabulous@50. The friendships I have made through Toastmasters are precious to me.
What about you? What is on your heart and mind to learn? Take a look at your life it is the only one you have, choose to sign up for that course or start a new company such as I did at 58, it is never to late, maybe you just want to make more friends, then make yourself available. I was reminded this week exactly why God has given me a heart for people, when a friend needed someone to listen and I took the time to open my heart.
I want to encourage and inspire you to reach out when you need a hand or heart to listen. You may just learn something new in the process, I make myself available to as many of you as I can, don't be shy to shoot me a message to chat and I will always answer.
Until next time, yours in growing,
Juanita
